"The Self-sufficient Life and How to Live It " by John Seymour is easy to read, easy to understand and well illustrated. He tells it like it is with little or no sugar coating. The book covers a broad range of topics relevant to self-sufficient living. I've read quite a few books on "getting back to the land" and this book is the best introduction you can ask for - with an abundance of useful information.Seymour takes on the topic like a cranky grandfather. In addition, he knows what he's talking about - since he is one of the "grandfathers" of the sustainability movement. If you are interested in sustainability, micro-farming, rural living - or just curious about "getting back to the land" - I highly recommend this book. While there are many books which are more in-depth on specific topics, this book is the best I've seen at giving the reader a well rounded introduction to the self-sufficient life.
This books covers it all except for WHERE to find a place to live to do this stuff. I have NO plans to gut a rabbit in the near future, but it I did ever need to, here is the how to do it.
This Book has everything you need to know about wanting to do things on your own. Great book. highly Recommended for those individuals who want to know how to do things the old way and still live in the NOW. Great Book.
Well my title says it all, it is the bible of self sufficient living. Even though I will probably not ever be completing "off the grid" I found this book to have all the answers. There is so much useful information, even if you don't have property, you will find this book helpful.
If you like the topic you will most likely enjoy the book. Nice colorful hard bound copy great for coffee table or book case.
